If you are looking for a dental treatment that will give you that perfect celebrity smile, porcelain veneers are the solution for you! Tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluoride, broken or damaged teeth, or small gaps between the teeth are well known for staining of the teeth. All these malformations can be corrected using aesthetic dental restorations such as crowns, bridges and veneers.

How veneers can improve the look of your smiles

Cosmetic veneers are a quick way to smile correction. Veneers are ultra-thin shells made from porcelain or resin that looks and feels like your natural looking teeth. Porcelain veneers, also referred to as Lumineers, are the best option to fit your front teeth and similarly reflect light as tooth enamel, so they give brightness to the teeth. Veneers and lumineers are made of porcelain. Lumineers don’t require the dentist to prepare veneers don’t require the dentist to prepare the teeth, making the procedure minimally invasive. There is minimal preparation for teeth is needed to bond the lumineers.

What dental veneers can do for your teeth

To get a better understanding of these procedures, let’s learn the steps involved in the fixation of veneers/lumineers. Veneers are permanent fixtures and are not intended to be removed. They can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years or more depending on the individual maintenance factors. You might need at least two or three visits to the dentist. During the first visit, the dentist will carefully examine your teeth, and the right course of treatment will be decided. Your dentist will not recommend veneers if you have decayed teeth or enamel loss. The dentist may take a few X-rays to check the condition of your teeth and possibly make impressions of mouth and teeth. To prepare your teeth for fixing of veneer, 1/2mm of the enamel from its surface is chipped from your mouth. The result should not be thicker than it was before the enamel is removed. Your dentist will check the requirement for a local anesthetic to numb the area to reduce pain before chipping the enamel. An impression of your teeth will be taken and sent to the dental laboratory, and then veneers are made. You can expect this to take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks. Once the porcelain veneers are ready, it is fixed on your teeth with special bonded cement. The veneer color can be matched with the shade of the cement to be used, and your dentist will apply a special kind of light to the veneer. Your dentist will scrape and floss away excess resin cement piece along the edge. Once the veneers are made, your dentist may ask you for follow-up visits, to check the condition of the gums. Regular brushing and flossing and proper dental hygiene will help veneers last much longer.
